Hey Everybody, Meet Alyse

Everyone, meet Alyse, our Digital Strategist. Let's find out a little about her through some Q & A.

So, where are you from?
I was born and raised in Iowa City!

How do you like working and living in Iowa City?
I went to college in a Chicago suburb, and as much as I love Chicago and want to go back someday, I moved back to Iowa City right after graduation. You can’t beat living in a place that truly feels like home (especially when you’re working in the ped mall!).

Describe yourself in three words.
Driven, independent and compassionate.

What’s the most random or interesting thing you’ve made a spreadsheet for?
In college, a bunch of my sorority sisters would watch this show on MTV called Are You The One?. Basically, 10 girls and 10 guys take personality tests and are matched up based on their compatibility. The whole show is them figuring out who they’re technically the most compatible with. If they can all do it before the end, they win money. It’s a terrible, amazing show, and when we watched every week we had a spreadsheet “bracket” that we updated with each episode of trashy goodness. Maybe a little excessive, but it worked! We always knew most of the pairings 2 or 3 episodes before the end.

LOL! That’s a great use of spreadsheets.

Next up: Which song would be your reality show’s theme song?
Traveling by Tennis. It just sounds theme song-y, and I really like the song!

What’s your one tip to someone getting started with digital marketing for their brand?
Don’t be afraid of it. Even if you don’t see an immediate benefit monetarily speaking, awareness is so crucial for any brand, and you’re doing yours a disservice if you aren’t promoting it via digital marketing.

Preach. Do you prefer winter or summer?
Fall! But if I had to choose, summer, because I love all of the outdoor activities that come with it.

Which social media platform is your favorite. Why?
Probably Instagram because I love a bit of escapism, and I think IG is by far the best platform for that.

What is a secret skill you have that no one knows about?
This definitely isn’t a secret since a lot of my friends and the whole Sculpt office knows, but I read tarot cards! I’ve been super into astrology and tarot for a few years. If you ever need a reading or astrological advice, I’m your girl!

Amazing. Where would you travel if you could go anywhere in the world, all expenses paid?
A while back, my grandparents got super into Ancestry.com and found some of our relatives in Germany. They went out to visit them, and I’d love to do the same someday.

If you ever had to sing karaoke, what song would you choose?
Anything by Celine Dion because she’s iconic and also because I can do a really funny (funny, not good) impression of her.

If someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be?
Perfectly Sane Cat Lady, for sure. For context, I saw that phrase on a pillow in TJ Maxx once and thought “OMG, me.”

Our solo cat lady in an office of dog owners! It’s okay, we love all animals.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Trashy. Reality. TV. I love everything from The Real Housewives to The Bachelor, but I’d have to say that, as a reality TV connoisseur, my favorite show of all time is Are You The One? (see above). I’m currently working my way through Love Island, but I’m open to all recommendations.

What are three things still left on your bucket list?
Flying first class, seeing Beyonce live, and going to Asia.

Yes to all of those.

If you were an ice cream flavor, which flavor would you be and why?
This one is so hard! Probably Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey though because it’s my favorite! I feel like it seems kind of weird for an ice cream flavor but it’s actually really good, and I feel like (hopefully) I’m similarly underrated.

What is your favorite part about being a Sculptron so far?
It has to be the other Sculptrons. Everyone is so welcoming, creative and smart here that it blows my mind, and it’s been amazing working with them/learning from them so far.
